  • WHSThe first thing that will strike you about 360o panoramas is how powerful they can be as a visual tool to give your students a sense of space and time, particularly when viewed using a projector onto a large screen or whiteboard. Indeed it is easy to get carried away, viewing place after place, in the same way that many of us have whiled away time exploring the Earth’s surface using Google Earth. Be warned that your students will want to do the same, so it is important to plan how you intend to use 360o panoramas in your lessons. What is almost certain is that many students will find them fascinating because of their interactive nature and because of the high definition and quality of many of the images.

  • WHSIn a globalised world where the spread of infectious diseases ignores boundaries and potentially affects us all, we all need to be able to make informed decisions as an essential first step to reducing the ever increasing rise in infections.

The resources available here are targeted at Geography teachers and students and they are being made available for teachers from any school to use or, indeed, for students at Key Stage Three and above to use in their own independent learning. Further materials will be added and they will be made available to all schools through the Geographical Association and Mathematical Association.

  • WHSWe have put together links to a selection of webcams that range from the North Pole to the South Pole. Each location has a geographical relevance which we hope you will find interesting. You can also use the locations as examples in your work. As the cameras are live, the images will change regularly, so that you may find that scenes have complete changed the next time you view them. For example, in mountainous locations, cloud can arrive or clear in just minutes. You will also see hourly, daily, weekly and seasonal changes in landscapes and the activities of people.

  • WHSExcel is a versatile program that we generally use for number-crunching and graph drawing. Here you can find out how it can be used to to create 3D landscapes, colour-layer maps, cross-sections and a lot more.

  • WHSThe Geography of Chocolate. Most of us eat it; some of us more often than we should. However do we ever consider the different people across the world who's combined work brings us this delicious snack or drink? Farmers, transport workers, factory workers and shop keepers are just some of the people involved in this chain.
  • WHSLondon Docklands Virtual Visit. Since the early 1980's, the London Docklands have been transformed from the run down port of London, and its associated industries, to a commercial and financial area that rivals the City of London itself. Derelict industrial land has been transformed into towering office blocks, smart retail centres and luxury flats, but were the original working class East-End population bypassed by these developments?
